Baptist History Exposition

•January 27, 2010 • Leave a Comment

As you think about us this week, please be in prayer that God would use the exposition that we have at church on Baptist History in France to see souls saved. Please pray that God would bring in people to look at the expo, and that they would have questions about what our little church is all about. The local newspaper placed an announcement about the exposition so we are praying and hoping that it will let more people know about the expo.

Exposition/Conference and Newspaper Article

•January 18, 2010 • Leave a Comment

This past week  there was an article in the newspaper written by a journalist that came for the Music concert at our church a couple of weeks ago. I thought that it would be nice for all of you to see the article and some pictures that he took during the concert. Please pray that God would use these opportunities to help reach others for Him. Praise the Lord that the local newspapers are open and willing to put articles in their newspapers for us.

This week, we are beginning to distribute invitations for the exposition and the conference at the church on Baptist History in France. Please pray that God would bring many people to see the exposition and that again He would see fit to bring someone to Him through this outreach. We will be taking information about the exposition and conference to the local newspapers,  so please pray that they would be willing once again to run the announcements .

Visitors for the music concert

Praise the Lord! He answered our prayers this past Sunday. We had our music concert at church and 12 visitors came for it. What an answer to prayer. We were able to distribute about 900 invitations for the concert and several people came from those, but about half came because they were invited by a lady (Jacqueline) that comes to the church every now and then. It has been several months since she came, but the Lord moved and all were there and heard a clear presentation of the Gospel message.

Another answer to our prayers is that again, the local newspaper put an article in the paper for us. What a blessing they have been to us. We also had another local newspaper journalist who showed up for the start of the concert and took pictures so that they could run an article on the church. I am not sure, but we may be becoming local celebrities. Most likely, people are just wondering about this new church, and why we continually have special programs. Praise the Lord that we have been somewhat accepted in our city.

Please be praying for us for the end of the month. We will be having an evangelistic conference again (Jan. 30). The subject of the conference will be the history of Baptists in France. We will be opening the church every day for a week leading up to the conference so that people can come and look at the expo (Jan. 25-30). We will be putting up banners with the history of the Baptists in France throughout the church and also material on the Baptist distinctives. Please pray that God would use this effort that we may see someone come to know Him.

Music Concert and Visitors

•December 28, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Happy New Year! Please pray for us this next weekend. We will be having a music concert at the church this Sunday. We will be distributing invitations this week and also letting our local newspaper know about the concert. Please pray that God would bring visitors to the church to hear the music, and that they would understand the Gospel message that will be presented.

This past Sunday was an encouragement for us. We had three new visitors at the church. Two were on vacation in the area and had found out about the church in the summer when they were vacationing. They received literature from the Bible stand here at Saint-Gaudens. Praise the Lord that we are seeing fruit from this evangelistic outreach. The other visitor was a lady that just moved into the region. She is searching for a church and from the testimony that she shared is already saved. Please pray that God would direct her to our church if it is His will.

Bible Stand at Montréjeau and New Convert

•December 7, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Sometimes things happen that make you ask the question, “Why would the Lord allow this to happen?” Normally, on Mondays, we have our new Bible stand at Montréjeau, but as of today, we were told that we would not be able to set up anymore. We had made a couple good contacts over the last several weeks that we have been at Montréjeau; please pray that we would be able to maintain those contacts. The mayor of the city is not known for being open to christian things since he is part of the communist party, or so we heard, but after having setup for several weeks in a row without any problems, and having briefly spoken with the man in charge of placing people at the market, we thought that we would not have any issues. Please pray that God would continue to touch the hearts of those who did receive information about the church there in the city. Please pray that we would understand how best to reach the people of this city without getting ourselves in trouble with the city officials. The Lord understands the situation, please pray that we would also understand.

A note of praise, last Sunday, after meeting two ladies who are from New Caledonia at the market at Saint-Gaudens, one of the ladies (Julie) prayed to accept Christ as Savior while the other lady (Sandrine) was searching for assurance of her salvation. Both have returned home to New Caledonia. Please pray that God would work in both of their lives and that they would have a desire to grow and serve Him. Praise the Lord for His blessing. Though we will not be able to see them come to our church, praise the Lord for the harvest that He brought.

Bible Stand and Church Journal

Tomorrow, we will be heading out to Montréjeau again to distribute tracts at the market. Please pray that there would be no problems tomorrow for us in setting up our Bible stand. While we are there, we will also make a visit to a lady (Sylvie) who visited the church a couple of weeks ago. She is going through a lot at this time in her life. As of right now, we are not sure that she is saved, please pray that God would open the door for us to explain His love for her tomorrow.

The church at Saint-Gaudens also just put out our quarterly journal. If you know a little French and would like to brush up, follow the link below. Please pray that God would use the journel to reach out to those around us. We distribute it at the markets and also to the many contacts that we have.

Another recent addition to what we are doing at the church is putting a banner in the front window of the church that lists all of the services and special events. Please pray also that God would use this to attract those who walk past the church building.

Bible Stand at Montréjeau and a Lady Saved

•November 17, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Last Monday was a first for us. We were finally able to set up the Bible stand at the market at Montréjeau. Back in the Spring, we had asked for permission to set up our Bible stand, but never received any reply. On several occasions, we had planned to just go, try to set up and see what happens, but we were rained out or something else had come up. Praise the Lord that He removed all the obstacles this past Monday. Please pray that we would be able to continue with the market in Montréjeau. We do not have permission still and probably never will. The man in charge of placing people at the market did not say anything against the fact that we were there on Monday. We also had to share a place with someone else, but in the end all went well. Praise the Lord.

This past Sunday was also a great encouragement to us in the ministry. Genevieve, the lady that found the invitation to the conference, trusted Christ as her Savior. She was at church again on Sunday, and she  went home with another family in the church for lunch. That afternoon, as they were speaking, Yann was able to lead Genevieve to the Lord. What a wonderful and amazing Savior we have. We can only giving thanks in how the Lord brought all of this together.

Visitors!! and Ladies Meeting

IMGThe Lord truly answered our prayers and sent us four visitors for the conference this past Saturday. A couple of the visitors were people who had already come to the conferences that we had last year. It truly was a great blessing to see how God worked out all the details. Another praise concerning the conference was that we were able to get a small anouncement in the local Newspaper. I dropped off an invitation at the Newspaper office several days before the conference, but really did not expect them to put the anouncement in the paper since they had not done so for the last several conferences. We were able to distribute a little over 2,000 invitations for the conference. On the back of each invitation was also written a small explanation of the conference and the Gospel message. Please pray that God would work in the hearts of those who received these invitations.

Another large praise from this past weekend was that we had a visitor (Genevieve) at church Sunday morning. Genevieve has been looking for a church home recently and had not found one. She lives about 30 km from Saint-Gaudens and was not aware that there was a good church in the area. As she was walking one day out in the countyside trying to get back to her car that was broken down, she found an invitation from our church that was on the ground. Praise the Lord that the invitation flew off exactly where she would be and that her car had broken down. She called the very same day and said that she would be coming to church the following Sunday. From all appearances, she seems to have a great desire to integrate into the church and come regularly to the services. Please pray that God would continue to work in her life as there are many things that need to be taken care of.

This coming Saturday will the the Ladies meeting that is held every month during the school year. This time, it will be in our home. Please pray that it goes well, and that it is a blessing to the ladies. Melissa will be giving her testimony at the meeting.

Evangelistic Conference

•October 19, 2009 • Leave a Comment

This Saturday, we will be having an evangelistic conference at the church. We have begun to hand out invitations and have been able to distribute 1,200 so far. The title of the conference is “Religion or Gospel.” The title of the conference is very strong for the French, but please pray that God would work in the hearts of those who receive the invitation. That they would be open to come and hear the Gospel.  As we go out this week to distribute more invitation and put up small posters announcing the conference please pray also that the people would be receptive.

This week, we will also be working a lot with the five young people in the Apollos Program. They will be working in our church so we will be able to put them to work. We finished knocking all the doors in Miramont de Comminges last week with the young people and made several good contacts. There are two people who are asking for a Bible from the visits that we made. This week we plan to knock all the doors, Lord willing, in the city of Aspet where we have the Bible stand on Saturdays. Two weeks ago, we distributed gospel tracts in the mailboxes. Please pray that the people in Aspet would be receptive to what we have to say.
